How to Fix a Charging Port

Quick question, reader: what do your phone, laptop, and tablet have in common? Simple: they all need charging to work as intended!

Unfortunately, that charging juice isn’t always readily available. When you put the charger into the device, it will refuse to acknowledge it. Other times, the device will see the charger but won’t seem to know what to do with it.

Most of the time, the cause of this issue will lie in a faulty port. Here are some tips on how to fix a charging port from the safety of your home!

Reset the Device

We’re all familiar with the old IT cliche of “turn it off, then on again.” Well, what if we told you that this is a cliche because it so often works?

Sometimes, your port will work fine and allow your device to receive power from the charger. However, some software glitches will prevent the battery status bar from going up, making it seem like a port issue.

You can solve software problems of this kind with a quick restart. This will reset the device’s temporary memory and make it “see” the charger again. You can restart most devices by holding the Power and Volume Down keys.

Next, ensure you’re running the latest version of your operating system. That said, this may require a certain amount of battery power. As such, you should only consider it if you can charge your device wirelessly.

If you’re still stuck, consider doing a factory reset. Keep in mind this will delete all the data on your phone, so back everything up before starting. Consult your phone manual for more information on this process.

Try a Different Charger

By eliminating software-related issues, only the hardware ones are still in play. Even then, there’s still a chance your port isn’t the culprit.

Due to wear and tear, some cables eventually stop being able to conduct electricity. If you take your cable everywhere with you, all that twisting may take its toll. You can test this theory by trying a different charging cable.

Let’s say you’re usually charging your iPhone by connecting it to a USB port on your laptop. This time, plug it into a wall outlet. If your phone’s been dead for a while, it might need extra power to start the charging process.

Alternatively, use your usual charging setup with a different phone or tablet. If the device charges up as normal, you’ll know the issue lies with the phone. This would be a good time to start looking into iPhone repair options.

Clean Out the Port

Do you often carry your phone in your pocket? If so, there’s a decent chance that dirt and debris will contribute to the phone not charging.

Check for debris by pointing a light source into the port. If you find something, turn the phone off and use a soft toothbrush to clean the port. Doing so should take care of smaller pieces of dirt and debris.

If the debris proves stubborn to remove, use a sharp object like a toothpick. Be careful when handling it, or you may end up damaging the port. Once you dislodge the debris, use a can of compressed air to blow it out.

Another possibility is that your charging port is too damp to use. Of course, this only applies if you dropped your phone into the water recently. If you did, though, give the port a chance to dry out before using it.

Check for Physical Damage

If the problem persists, you’ll need to open the device to check the port from within. If you’re not comfortable with this step, have the pros do it for you.

For phones and tablets, the opening process is fairly similar. All you need to do is remove the back cover with a screwdriver and a pry tool. If you’ve ever had to replace a phone battery, you should have no issues here.

Next, take a look at the inner workings of your device. If you see any debris in or around the port, use a toothbrush to clean it. Ensure the wires are in the correct position, then put the cover back up and try charging the phone.

If this doesn’t help, you’ll likely need to replace the port itself. Take the back cover off and carefully disconnect the wires attached to the port. Use a soldering gun to remove solder joints on all four corners of the port.

The best way to do this is to put the tip of the gun over each solder joint and hold it. Once the solder starts flowing outward, use pliers to pry it up. Do it for each of the four solder joints, then replace the old port with a new one.

Assess the Laptop Port

On a laptop, replacing the charging port is a bit easier than on the phone. The real challenge of laptop repair lies in assessing the port.

First, switch the laptop off and find the screws that are holding the outer casing together. Remove them while noting where each screw came from. That way, you’ll know where to put them back once you’re done.

Now, look for electrical components close to the area where the port connects to the laptop. Disconnect them carefully and detach the port from the laptop. Check the port for any abnormalities or broken sections.

For example, if the middle part of the port is bent, try correcting it. If the metal plates around the port are loose, use a screwdriver to tighten them. Once you’re done, plug the power back in and see if the port is charging.

if the issue with the laptop not charging persists, you’ll need to replace the port. If you’re doing it yourself, use compressed air to remove any debris around it. Reconnect the wires attached to the port, then close the laptop.

Most Common PS5 Problems and How to Fix Them

Sony has now sold close to forty million PlayStation 5 consoles worldwide. In nearing this milestone, the company is turning a new chapter in the ongoing saga of video gaming.

Yet, this high-tech, ultra-fast gaming console is not immune to issues. There are many users who report having some kind of PS5 problems.

From system crashes to unresponsive controllers and from data transfer issues to glitches in 4K resolution displays, PS5 problems can interrupt your gaming marathon at the most inopportune times.

To make things easier for you, we’ve written a guide that addresses the most common PS5 issues and their fixes.

By troubleshooting these issues yourself, you can save yourself a great deal of frustration. Keep reading if you’d like to find out more.

Randomly Uninstalled Disc Games

If you’ve noticed that disc games mysteriously disappear from your PS5, you’re not alone. The reason for these spontaneous uninstallations isn’t entirely clear.

But the solution might be as simple as rebooting your system. Make sure to disconnect it from power, wait for a few minutes, then reconnect and power up again.

This action resets the system’s memory and often resolves the issue.

You should also check to make sure that you’ve completed all of your system updates. All gaming systems, including PS5s and Xboxes, need to be updated from time to time.

Games Deemed Unplayable

Sometimes, your PS5 might declare a game “unplayable,” even though it should work fine. This is a common Playstation console problem and could be due to several factors.

One of the most common reasons is a faulty or incomplete game installation. You can fix this by deleting the game from your PS5 and reinstalling it.

Remember to back up any saved game data to avoid losing progress. If the issue continues, try updating your PS5 software. Sony frequently releases updates to improve system performance and fix bugs.

PS5 Controller Drift

PS5 controller drift refers to when your character moves without any input from the controller. This annoying problem can often be fixed without needing PS5 repair.

Try resetting your controller by using a small tool (like a pin) to press the reset button at the back of the controller. After this, reconnect your controller to the PS5.

If this doesn’t work, it might be a hardware issue requiring professional repair or controller replacement. Make sure to bring your PS5 to a reputable repair company that will meet or beat the prices of other retailers.

Overheating

The PS5, like any electronic device, can overheat if not adequately ventilated. If your console turns off with a warning about the temperature, it’s time for some PS5 troubleshooting.

Make sure your console has plenty of space around it and is not placed near a heat source. Clean the vents regularly to remove dust buildup which can restrict airflow.

If overheating continues, it might indicate a hardware problem that needs professional attention.

PS5 Controller Won’t Charge

If your PS5 controller isn’t charging, try using a different USB cable or wall adapter first. If it still doesn’t charge, the issue might be the battery or charging port.

Unfortunately, this will require a PS5 repair, as the controller must be opened to replace these parts. Remember, unofficial repair services may void your warranty, so always use an authorized repair center.

System Crashes

Nothing is more frustrating than PS5 crashing in the middle of a game. This can happen for several reasons, including software bugs, faulty hardware, or problems with your game disc.

Restart your PS5 and ensure it’s updated to the latest software. If you’re playing from a disc, check it for scratches. A factory reset might help, but this should be a last resort as it will erase all your data.

Power issues can manifest in many ways, such as the PS5 not turning on, turning off suddenly, or not coming out of rest mode.

Try using a different power outlet or cable. If the problem persists, it might be an issue with the power supply unit inside the PS5. This is a serious issue that needs professional repair.

Breaking in Rest Mode

A common PS5 issue involves the console breaking or freezing while in rest mode.

As a workaround, disable rest mode until Sony releases a software patch. Go to Settings > Power Saving > Set Features Available in Rest Mode and uncheck the boxes.

SSD Storage Errors

SSD storage errors are among common PS5 issues and fixes. The system might fail to recognize your external SSD or wrongly state that it’s full.

If you are using a new SSSD, make sure that it is compatible with PS5. Then, power down the PS5, disconnect the SSD, and reconnect it carefully.

If the issue continues, try formatting the SSD. Note that this will delete all data on the drive.

Not Booting in Safe Mode

Sometimes, the PS5 might not boot in safe mode. This could indicate a problem with your console’s firmware or hardware.

If you’ve tried powering off and unplugging the console with no luck, it’s time to contact a professional for repair. Safe mode is a diagnostic mode. Therefore, if it fails to launch, your PS5 likely needs expert attention.

9 Signs It’s Time for a Phone Battery Replacement

44% of people experience some kind of frustration when it comes to their phone batteries. What they don’t realize is that their problems can be easily solved!

Your phone has a natural battery life, and as a battery is used it becomes less and less efficient. This isn’t anything to be worried or frustrated about, it’s natural for a small piece of technology to decline over time. Instead of facing frustration with your phone, simply get a phone battery replacement.

Here are the signs that it’s time to replace your phone battery.

1. Your Charge Never Reaches 100%

When you charge your phone, it should incrementally gain battery until the battery percentage is 100%. If your phone never reaches that 100% mark or worse, if it loses battery while plugged in, it’s definitely time to look into a battery replacement.

2. Your Phone Dies Quickly

When you first got your phone, you probably found that you could go a whole day using it without needing to charge it. It’s normal for the battery function to diminish a bit as it nears the end of its battery life, but eventually, you’ll need to replace it.

If you find that you need to bring a portable charger with you everywhere or that your phone dies after just a few hours of use, you should take it to be serviced and receive a new smartphone battery.

3. Your Phone Won’t Turn On

This is one of the most obvious signs that there’s something wrong with your phone. If your phone turns off or runs out of battery, and you can’t turn it back on, you likely have a battery problem.

Of course, this could be a symptom of a couple of other phone issues including water damage. The best course of action for a phone that won’t turn on is to bring it into the store to be checked out by a professional. They’ll let you know if you need a new battery or a whole new phone.

4. You Have to Leave Your Phone Plugged In

We left the days of the landline a long time ago. There’s absolutely no reason that your phone should need to be connected to a wall in order to work.

If your phone will only work or stay on while it’s plugged in and charging, you definitely need to get the battery replaced. Your battery’s role is to hold onto the charge for an extended period of time and provide your phone with the power it needs. It shouldn’t need a constant source of energy from the outlet.

5. Your Battery Is Bulging

Did you know that a dead smartphone battery can leak and even explode? It can once it reaches the end of its life, and the result will be visible from the outside of your phone.

If you notice that your phone looks misshapen, has a bulge in the back, and isn’t working you may have some kind of battery leakage. That battery content can be harmful to you, so make sure that you replace it right away.

If you aren’t sure if there’s a bulge, here’s an easy test. Place the phone on its back on a flat surface. If it spins, there’s a slight bulge allowing that to happen.

6. Your Phone Heats Up Quickly

Electronics give off a certain amount of energy in the form of heat as they perform their tasks. However, technology has come far enough to mitigate some of the heat so that our electronic tools are still comfortable to hold.

If your phone heats up quickly or becomes too hot to hold while performing normal tasks, then it’s expending too much energy. This is a tell-tale sign of a battery having trouble efficiently using battery power.

This sign is especially important to notice because an overheating phone can result in an explosion. You don’t want that to happen while you’re holding your phone in your hands or close to your face.

Another important thing to notice is how hot your phone gets while charging. Overheating phones connected to power have started fires – so it’s about more than making sure you have the battery to get through the day. It’s a matter of safety too.

7. The Battery Reading Is Erratic

When you charge your phone, the battery percentage should go up. When you use your phone, the battery percentage should gradually go down. Simple enough, right?

Unfortunately, things don’t always go the way that they logically should. If you notice your phone battery fluctuating throughout the day instead of gradually decreasing, you have a battery problem. In all likelihood, the percentage reading is totally off and you don’t have as much charge as it claims you do.

When this happens, you may find that your phone suddenly dies when it claims to have a fairly full charge.

8. Your Phone Is More Sluggish Than It Used to Be

Have you noticed your apps functioning more slowly than they used to? Does your phone freeze, lag, have trouble saving and downloading things, connecting to the internet, sending messages, and other simple tasks?

These are all signs of a battery problem. While it’s normal for your phone to eventually decrease in speed and efficiency as it ages, it should still be usable without frustration. A slow and lagging phone could mean a battery problem if there’s no other source to the issue.

9. Check the Battery Report

Here’s a very easy way to find out it’s time for a battery replacement. Check the battery report!

Most smartphones today have an option in the settings to read about how well your battery is functioning. If its battery function is below 80%, the problem will be noticeable, and it’s time to get it fixed!

Even if you can’t access the report yourself, you can take it to a repair store, and they should be able to check for you before going through the repair process.

Phone Battery Replacement Made Easy

Once you know the signs of a declining battery, you’ll be able to choose to get a phone battery replacement quickly. At the first sign of trouble, go find a repair shop to get a new battery. Then you won’t have to face any of the frustrations of a sluggish or quickly dying phone.

PlayStation 4 Repair Tips That You Should Know

The PlayStation 4 is a vastly popular system with over 110 million units sold. Since the release of the Playstation 5, we are edging closer to the end of its life cycle.

As such, many systems will begin to need repairs after years of use. Whether you’re a novice or an expert on Playstation 4 repair, you should familiarize yourself with these basic repair concepts to avoid bricking the console.

But, what exactly are these simple repair solutions? This guide will give you some repair tips to help keep your console running in mint condition.

Faulty HDMI Ports

One of the biggest PlayStation 4 problems includes a non-functioning HDMI port. These issues are more common with the original build of the Playstation 4.

This is a small piece in the rear of the motherboard. This piece is soldered onto the motherboard to provide access to the HDMI port.

One way to note whether the HDMI is bad or not is the white light that comes on inside of your console. If you see this light with no signal to the display, this can signal a bad port.

You can remove the HDMI cable and shine a flashlight into the HDMI port. This can reveal bent connections disrupting the signal.

A small chip, called an IC chip, located on the motherboard behind the HDMI port, can fail. Sometimes, currents from a thunderstorm can reach this chip and cause damage as well.

Sometimes the IC chip has damage but the HDMI port is functioning. A great way to troubleshoot this is to test out the HDMI port with a new HDMI cable.

In this case, replacing this chip can help bring that picture back, if needed.

Accelerated Processing Unit

The PlayStation 4 has what is known as an accelerated processing unit or an APU. This chip holds both the CPU and GPU in the same chip. You can also find this chip on the motherboard.

If you remove this chip and flip it you can see many tiny solder balls. In certain cases, these tiny balls will heat up to the point of melting. Thus, they will melt onto the motherboard.

Since these units do all the processing, they can inhibit your system. In other cases, these units can go bad.

You might have oxidized pads on the APU or even cracks in the solder joint within the chip. This will signal the blinking blue light on the PlayStation. Or, the PlayStation will power on only to immediately shut off.

If you own an older model, you can place washers under the clamp that rests on the APU. This will tighten the clamp and may restore the connections under the APU.

Another more time-consuming method is replacing the solder balls. Once you replace these solder balls you can then solder the solder balls back onto the board.

As you can imagine, this is quite difficult and is a costly emergency if the washer method does not work.

Power Supply & PlayStation 4 Repair

Among the many PlayStation 4 problems is the connection to the power supply.

A simple readjustment that most people forget is checking the power cord connection. A loose power cord can cause flickering blue light and random system shutdowns.

This can cause the power supply to not function. It will disrupt the delivery of power to the system.

Make sure the power cable is securely flush into the back of the console. Also, in certain cases, check to see if the cable is plugged into a power strip.

Power strips are useful but can sometimes it can cause a shutdown problem for the PlayStation. You can troubleshoot the shutdown issue by plugging the cable into the wall instead of a power strip.

It’s a strange solution but is an effective method of fixing power issues.

If this does not solve the issue, you are likely facing the BLOD or the Blue Light of Death. In this case, you may need to visit a PlayStation 4 repair shop.

Disk Drive Issues

One of the many PlayStation 4 problems is the disk drive issue. There are many fixable solutions to this problem.

One common problem includes the bottom plate dislodging from the disk drive. The rollers under the bottom plate can loosen and dislodge themselves from the disk drive.

This will prevent the disk drive from receiving PlayStation discs. In addition, when replacing the hard drive, there are tiny module pieces that can also break. This will also disrupt the disc reading process.

Make sure the rolling pins under the disk drive are clean. Clean up any loose pieces fumbling around the bottom of the disk drive as well.

Disc Read Error

Sometimes you’ll place a disk drive into the console and an error message will appear. The message will relay that the disk is unreadable.

Make sure to keep your discs inside their cases when not in use. You can also clean the disc to make sure the disc itself is not the issue.

But, if you are frequently seeing this message, you may have an issue with the laser.

The laser inside the disk drive is a fragile piece of hardware. In a smoking house or a house with pets, the lens of the laser can get dirty.

Sometimes, you can clean it, but it’s wise to replace the laser reader itself if you are experiencing issues reading discs.

Renewing Your PlayStation 4

In many cases, if simple fixes do not work, you’ll need to send the PlayStation 4 console to an independent PlayStation 4 repair shop. The PlayStation warranty does not cover most system failures.

These troubleshooting tips can help triangulate the problem. Becoming knowledgeable in these PlayStation 4 maintenance tips can help you better communicate with your repair professional.

Schedule a consultation so that our professional technicians can diagnose and fix your PlayStation 4 console!

How to Clean USB Ports in Your Laptop

Did you know that around 92% of the population own at least one computer device? Within these devices, there are several small USB ports that we often don’t think much about.

The problem is that these ports gather a lot of dust and grime if we’re not careful. Without a functioning port, you’ll not be able to use any of your favorite USB gadgets.

That’s why we’ve collected the top tips to help you learn how to clean USB ports without any risk to you or your laptop!

Inspect the USB Ports

The first thing you’ll want to do is to take a closer look at the damage to your ports. You can’t dive into learning how to clean laptop USB ports if you don’t know what is causing the problem.

Plus, how many times do you look into a USB port? It’s good to know the inner workings of the port before trying to clean it.

Your choice of method all depends on what’s stuck inside the port. Take a few moments to inspect it before moving on to the next steps.

Compressed Air

A can of compressed air is always at the top of any ‘how to clean electronics’ list and for good reason. This handy tool gives you a short burst of powerful air to dislodged any collected dust.

It works best when there isn’t anything sticky inside the port. Otherwise, you’ll end up getting more dust stuck on the substance.

Make sure to use the compressed air at an angle. This allows the airflow to go in and go back out while bringing the grime with it. Using compressed air straight into the laptop port risks pushing the dust more inward rather than out.

Toothpick

One of the best USB cleaning tips is to use a toothpick for the bigger clumps that you can’t reach with your fingers. Toothpicks are thin enough to fit into those small crevices and help you pull out any stubborn dust clumps.

Always use a plastic or wooden toothpick and never try to use something made of metal. If used in the wrong way, a metal object could cause damage to both you and your laptop.

Even with the right material, you’ll want to be careful with how you dig out the dust. It’s better to take a few extra minutes than to rush and damage something important within the port.

Isopropyl Alcohol and Cotton

When you’re learning how to clean laptop ports that are filled with gunk, you’ll want to turn your attention towards isopropyl alcohol.

Alcohol makes a good cleaner for electronics because it breaks down a lot of substances and it also dries fast so there’s no risk of damaging anything. Go with a high alcohol concentration, with at least 70% or above. The higher the concentrate, the better it’ll be at cleaning and drying.

A cotton swab is the best pairing for this purpose. It’s a small tool that doesn’t hold too much moisture which means there’s no risk of drenching the port.

Dab some isopropyl alcohol onto the cotton and then use that to gently scrub away any substances. Microfiber cloth also works great for this.

Even with the fast drying time, it’s better to make sure you give your laptop ample time to dry before turning it back on.

Dry Toothbrush

For those stubborn things that don’t want to budge at all when you clean a USB port, a dry and clean toothbrush is your best bet. An old toothbrush is perfect for this because the bristles are worn and soft.

You’ll use it to scrub at the gunk stuck inside the port. Compressed air is good to have on hand so that the pieces you scrub away won’t find their way further into the laptop.

Preventative Measures

The good news is that there are several things you can do to stop this kind of situation from happening again. With a little bit of extra effort, your USB ports won’t gather enough dust to cause problems in the future.

Frequent Dusting

When you want to minimize dust damage to your laptop, it’s better to focus on preventing a problem in the first place. Your best defense is to clean your laptop often.

A quick spritz from a compressed air can is enough to make a huge difference in the longevity of your laptop. All it takes is a few moments and you’ll prevent any accumulation of dust or dirt.

When you tend to use your laptop more, you’ll want to clean it more. At least once a week is a good rule to follow when you use your laptop every single day.

USB Covers

Did you know that there are small bits of plastic meant to stop dust from getting into your USB ports? You’ll often find them in a standing computer after you’ve first purchased it, but they’re great for laptops as well.

If you don’t have any spares lying around, they’re easy to find. They’re a cheap alternative to needing to seek out repairs due to a dusty port.

Laptop Bag

If you don’t already have a bag for your laptop while you travel with it, then it’s time to start thinking about one. It’s much more difficult to protect your laptop when you’re on the go.

That’s why having a dedicated bag in which to carry it is an asset for all laptop owners. This way, you’ll get to travel anywhere you want and never need to worry about sand or grime getting into the delicate parts of your laptop.

A laptop sleeve or case is also a great option to help protect your computer!

Knowing How To Clean USB Ports Keeps Your Laptop Safe

Now that you know how to clean USB ports for your laptop, you also know how to clean ports in any other computer device. The process is much the same because even smaller ports, like micro USBs, have a similar structure.

Always remember to use a gentle hand to avoid causing damage to your device!

Laptop Repair Near Me: How To Get Your Laptop Fixed

Are you looking for the best service to repair your laptop’s hardware issues? Have you been burned by laptop repair companies in the past? If so, then you need to learn how to choose a laptop repair company.

Far too many people simply go to Google and search for “laptop repair near me”. While proximity is important, We’re willing to bet that you’d travel outside your city limits if it meant guaranteeing that your laptop gets fixed the right way.

See below for an in-depth guide on the things to look for when trying to find the best laptop repair service around you.

1. Timely Service

There’s never a good time to need a laptop repair. Most people experience an issue while they are smackdab in the middle of a large project.

Maybe you’re a college student whose laptop gave out while you were working on a project for school. Perhaps you’re a business professional whose laptop stopped working as you were finalizing a big presentation for a potential client.

Whatever the case might be, you need your laptop fixed quickly. Whenever you reach out to a laptop repair service, be sure to ask for an estimation of turnaround time. In other words: how long do they think it will take to fix the issue?

The key here is to find someone willing to fix it the same day. That way, you can get back to your project quickly.

At Fruit Fixed, we’re all about efficiency. We want to help our customers (you) fix your issues as quickly as possible. If you’re experiencing an issue with your laptop, start by checking out our laptop repair page.

We don’t just do laptops either! We can also repair things like your phone, tablet, desktop, game console, smartwatch, and so much more!

2. Positive Reviews from Clients

These days, there are several ways for you to gauge the legitimacy of a company before you even step in its doors. Three of the most common ways are by reading through online reviews and client testimonials, as well as asking for references.

Start with the first one. Once you find a trustworthy company, search for their name on Google and read the comments that come up. Ask yourself a few questions while you do so:

  • Does the previous clientele seem satisfied with the service they received?
  • What types of devices did they have the service fix?
  • Did any of them need laptops fixed? (if so, pay special attention to those reviews)
  • Did the customers mention the company’s customer support at all?
  • How quickly did the customers get their devices back?
  • Did they experience any setbacks after the repair was performed?

If you’d like to get the opportunity to speak with a previous client, as the company for a client reference or two. That way, you can ask them more in-depth questions on the subject.

One thing to note: make sure the references they give you are to other clients that have had their laptops repaired, not other devices.

3. Top-Knotch Parts

Do you know what your repair service is putting into your laptop? Can you confidently say that they are using high-quality parts to fix your computer’s hardware issues? Most customers never take the time to ask.

You can tell whether or not a repair store cares about its clientele or not by the parts that it uses to repair your products.

If they’re only worried about the money in their pocket, they’ll purchase cheap parts to “fix” the issue. Those lesser quality parts will force you to pay for other repairs shortly.

If they’re legitimately interested in fixing the issue, then they’ll use high-quality parts. At Fruit Fixed, we only use the best quality products. Sometimes that means spending a bit more on our side of things, but it’s worth it to us!

4. Repairs They Can Perform

Make sure the repair service that you invest in has experience making the fixes that you need. A service should know about fixing common issues like:

  • Screen Replacements
  • Water Damage Repair
  • Replacing the Hard Drive
  • Replacing Your Keyboard

Ask them for more information on the repairs you need. Who will be taking care of the repairs? Have they ever seen this issue before? If so, how have they gone about fixing it for previous clients?

Don’t ever assume that service can perform a repair. Ask them whether they’ve done the repair before and if they’ve done it on the laptop model that you own.

5. Experienced Staff

Finding the right repair shop is all about finding one with the right employees. You want to find one with a staff that prioritizes their customers and has extensive experience in repairing laptops.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. How long have they worked there? How does the company train its staff? What are their qualifications?

You can also ask questions about the repair itself. How many times have they performed this type of repair? How much do they think it will cost? How long will it take to fix it? They’ll be happy to answer any questions you have!

How to Unlock iPhone if Screen Is Broken: 4 Possible Ways

More than 100 million people use iPhones in the United States.

Today more than ever, our iPhones are an essential part of our daily lives.

But despite doing everything we can to keep our phones safe, accidents sometimes happen.

Do you want to know how to unlock your iPhone if your screen is broken? The good news is that you can do it, and we’ve got four possible ways for you to try.

Unlock Using Touch ID

Touch ID uses your fingerprint to unlock your iPhone. This means you won’t have to enter your passcode on the screen. For this method, you need to set Touch ID up in advance (before your screen is broken)!

The Touch ID sensor is on your Home button. Before you begin, make sure your Home button and your finger are clean and dry.

On your iPhone, select “Settings” and then “Touch ID & Passcode”. You’ll then be asked to enter your passcode for security reasons.

Choose “Add a Fingerprint”, and hold you iPhone as you normally would. Depending on what’s best for you, you can choose to use your thumb or a finger for the Touch ID.

You will see instructions on the screen. Hold your thumb or finger on the Touch ID sensor until you feel a vibration, or you are asked to move. You will be asked to continue lifting and resting your thumb or finger on the sensor so it can capture your entire fingerprint.

Once you have finished, you’ll be able to quickly and easily rest your chosen thumb or finger onto the Home button to unlock your iPhone. This is perfect to use if your screen is broken, and you can’t unlock it using your passcode.

Unlock Using iTunes

Have you ever synced your iPhone to a trusted computer? If the answer is yes, you can use iTunes to unlock your iPhone if your screen is broken.

Start by opening iTunes on your computer. You can then connect your iPhone to the computer as you normally would, using a USB cable.

Once the computer has detected and recognized your iPhone, you’ll be able to select “Summary”. You can then choose the “Restore iPhone…” option. You’ll be asked to confirm the “Restore” option before the process begins.

By choosing this method, your iPhone will restore to factory settings. This means that the passcode will be removed, and you’ll be able to access your device.

However, be warned that this factory reset will remove all data and settings from your iPhone. These can be restored if you’ve previously and recently backed your iPhone up to iTunes or iCloud.

Unlock Using iCloud

This method of unlocking your iPhone will work if you have previously enabled the “Find My iPhone” feature. This can be done in your Settings app, or on iCloud.

To unlock your screen using iCloud, begin by going to iCloud via your computer or iPad browser. You can then log in to your iCloud account using your Apple ID and password.

Select the “Find iPhone” button. Click on “All Devices” and you will see a drop-down menu. Make sure you select your iPhone from this list.

You can then choose the “Erase iPhone” option. This deletes all of the content on your phone, including your screen passcode, meaning you can access your iPhone.

Again, this option wipes your phone. This means that everything you have added will be deleted, including contacts, photos, and notes.

That’s why it’s important to regularly back up your iPhone. If you do, you’ll then be able to restore your iPhone, reinstalling all of your content.

Unlock Using Siri

Another way to unlock your iPhone when you’ve broken your screen is to use Siri. This method does not involve wiping your iPhone, but it isn’t the most reliable method. But it may be worth trying!

Press and hold down your Home button. This will activate Siri.

Ask Siri to “Turn on VoiceOver”. Then press the Home key again to go to the main unlock screen.

Some of your touch screen may still work, so use the section that still responds to touch. On the password page, swipe left or right, moving your VoiceOver cursor to select the numbers of your passcode. You can then double-tap to select each number.

VoiceOver will also read out the number that your cursor is on, which is helpful if your cracked screen makes it difficult to see.

You then swipe to select the “Enter” or “Done” button, and double-tap to submit the password.

It’s then best to plug your iPhone into your computer, and backup to iTunes or iCloud. That way, you can be sure that you won’t lose anything in the future.

My AirPods Won’t Connect!: Bluetooth Troubleshooting Advice

Did you recently purchase a pair of AirPods? Are you having problems connecting your AirPods to some of your devices? Despite selling over 60 million units in 2019, the Apple AirPods still does not come with its issues.

Some of the common problems users complain of include the AirPods’ battery life, as well as the Automatic Ear Detection feature. But perhaps the most annoying problem involves connectivity.

Sometimes, your AirPods won’t connect for some reason. When this happens, the bigger problem is failing to address the matter.

But how do you exactly solve problems with AirPods on connection? We’re here to help. Continue reading below for a comprehensive troubleshooting guide.

Using the Wrong Version

Before you take your AirPods or iPhone for repairs, you need to check first if you’re using the right iOS version. This is one of the most common reasons why your AirPods won’t connect to your devices.

Whether you’re using AirPods for the first time or trying it out on a new device, you want to make sure you meet the minimum system requirements.

If you bought the first generation of the AirPods and you wish to pair it with your iPhone or iPad, the latter must be running on iOS 10 or later. In case you’re using the second generation of AirPods, your device must feature iOS 12.2 at the very least.

To check and update your software, open the “Settings” app on your device. Hit “General” then select “Software Update”. From there, you can see the iOS version that is running on your device.

The page will also tell you if you need an update or if you’re running the latest version. If it’s the former, then update your device accordingly.

Basic Troubleshooting When AirPods Won’t Connect

If your software is up-to-date and your AirPods connection failed, you can start with the basic troubleshooting. Begin by troubleshooting your Bluetooth. Check your iPhone or iPad and see if you enabled the Bluetooth.

Swipe down from the upper-right corner of your device to open the Control Panel. From there, check if the Bluetooth icon is lighting up in blue. Alternatively, you can go to the “Settings” app and check the Bluetooth menu.

If your Bluetooth connection is on but the AirPods still don’t work, check if the latter has enough battery. If you see that the battery is empty or low, replace the AirPods in their case and charge them for at least an hour.

If these methods still don’t work, try restarting your iPhone or iPad. If still to no avail, then you may need to restart your AirPods. To do this, unpair the AirPods from your Apple device then open the “Settings” app on your device.

Hit the “Bluetooth” option then tap the “i” beside the AirPods entry. Tap “Forget this Device” to remove them from your device.

Thereafter, put your AirPods back inside the charging case. Close the lid and wait for about 30 seconds before opening it again.

At the back of the case, press and hold the setup button. You want to hold the button until the status light flashes in amber color. The amber light should flash a few times then a flashing white light should follow.

Connection Problems With Your Mac

Sometimes, your AirPods may not want to connect with your Mac desktop or MacBook. This happens every once in a while especially if you’re using an older Mac. Thankfully, troubleshooting for Mac is roughly the same as the steps for your iPhone or iPad.

Check if your Mac is using the proper iOs version. First-generation AirPods require macOS Sierra or any later version to work. Meanwhile, second-generation AirPods will only run on macOS 10.14.4 or later.

If the AirPods still don’t pair, perform the basic troubleshooting options for iPhones.

When One of Them Doesn’t Pair or Sync

There will also be times when one of your AirPods will not sync. If this happens, the first thing to do is to return both AirPods inside the charging case. Wait for about 10 seconds then give them another try.

If it doesn’t work, repeat the process. But this time, connect and disconnect the Bluetooth on your device before removing the AirPods from the charging case.

If nothing changes, reset your AirPods accordingly.

iCloud Syncing Issues

In case your AirPods are giving you problems syncing with your iCloud, log out of your iCloud account then sign back in. This method works most of the time.

Alternatively, you may press and hold the setup button at the back of the charging case. Hold the button until you see the light flashing orange. When you see the light flashing, hold it for another 30 seconds before releasing it.

That Nagging Static Sound

Sometimes, the problem may not involve connecting or syncing to your device. Instead, the problem can be a nagging static sound. Many reasons may cause you to hear this annoying sound.

But the most common of which is interference. This is likely the case if you notice the static sound happening in one specific place. To solve this, you need to identify the device that is creating interference and move it to another place.

Another possible cause of interference is your Wi-Fi connection. You will notice the static sound, especially during calls. If this is the case, there is not much you can do but to turn off the Wi-Fi whenever you’re making calls.

Finding the Missing AirPods

If one day you find yourself misplacing your AirPods, you can use the Find My iPhone tool to find them. However, this will only work if your AirPods are still on.

To enable this, login to your iCloud account and hit “Find iPhone.” Go to the top of the screen and click “All Devices.” Hit “AirPods” to reveal where they are.

Alternatively, you can hit “Play Sound” to enable a beeping sound from the AirPods.

Is your smartphone playing dumb on you?

It happens to the best of us. You’re not alone. Google Pixel owners have shared their issues on forums online, and others have chimed in with possible solutions to their problems.

We’re here to share the information we’ve collected on Google Pixel support. Read on to find out how you might fix your Google Pixel problems.

Common Google Pixel Issues

Sometimes our phones get in a jam, and it seems like everything is crumbling down. But there might be a quick fix to your issue!

Let’s take a look at some common problems that owners of Google phones face, and see if we can answer some of your frequently asked questions.

First, we’ll present the common problem, and then offer possible solutions that have worked for other users.

Missing Messages

This is a common issue new owners of a Google Pixel face. It usually happens when transferring over from an old device, like an iPhone.

For some reason, users are unable to send or receive text messages to other users on their contacts list.

Possible Solutions

Misclicks happen, especially when setting up a new device. Let’s make sure you haven’t blocked someone on your contacts list. To check who’s on your blocked contacts lists: open your Messenger app, then tap More (it’ll show three horizontal dots with it), and then open Blocked Contacts.

If you used an iPhone before, you may need to go back to your old device and turn off iMessage. With your iPhone, you’ll need to go into Settings and open Messages to find the toggle for iMessage. If you no longer have your old iPhone, you will have to speak with an Apple associate to unregister the number associated with iMessage.

Update Refresh

Are you experiencing any slowdown or freezing on your Google Pixel?

This can include glitches in the screen display, stuck in a resolution rotation, laggy apps, or intermittent crashes.

Possible Solutions

Make sure you’re running the latest Android update for your phone. Sometimes they’ll have released a quick patch that you’ll need to download, also.

If you’re in a particular jam with your phone, you might need a quick restart. Users can reboot their Google phones by holding down the power button. A menu will ask you if you’d like to Restart, click OK.

Your phone should boot up fine, problem free. If not, continue reading for more specific issues and possible solutions

Specific Google Pixel Problems

Below are the rare issues that some owners run into with their Google phones. Check them out to see if you can find a fix to the nagging problem you’ve been facing.

Like before, we’ll describe the issue first, and then offer the possible solutions.

WiFi Issues

One of the most annoying struggles to deal with on your smartphone is connecting to the WiFi.

Issues with speed, consistency, or general connectivity issues. Let’s take a look at some solutions.

Possible Solutions

First, let’s make sure it’s not an interference with the WiFi modem itself. Even if other devices you’ve already connected continue to work fine, there might be a problem connecting a new device, like your phone. Turn the modem off, wait a few minutes, and then back on.

Next, turn your phone off. A quick restart never hurts…

If you’re still having issues, you might have input the WiFi settings incorrectly. To check, head to Settings on your Google Pixel, and open up the WiFi tab. Click the WiFi network you’re attempting to use, and select the option to Forget the Wireless Network. Once that completes, select the network and input the information in again.

Bluetooth Problems

Running into difficulties pairing your phone with Bluetooth-enabled accessories?

Some common reports from users are that their phones either can’t connect or will disconnect after some time. This appears to be happening most often with cars, which can be a big hassle while driving.

Possible Solutions

First, let’s do a simple refresh of all paired devices. Go into Settings and choose Bluetooth, and disconnect from any devices on the list. Once finished, head back in to repair your devices with your phone.

This glitch was affecting so many users that Google had to update the Android OS. Make sure you’re completely updated before worrying any longer.

Last, make sure you have all 3rd party updates for whatever devices you’re using. You’ll need to check with your publisher, like Sony or Beats, for the appropriate software patch for your Bluetooth device.

Camera Crashing

The Google Pixel has received rave reviews for its onboard camera…so it’s a shame when it starts acting up on you.

Unfortunately, there was a hardware issue with most Pixel phones. Early on Google made changes to fix it, but you may still be affected.

Users have reported issues about lens flare. Normally, cameras come with big hoods to block out reflective light, but most smartphone users want their phones completely flat. Instead, smartphone developers make up for it with software editing.

Possible Solutions

If your photos are coming out blurry, try wiping the camera lens of any fingerprint marks. Also,  make sure to enable HDR+ in your camera settings for clear, crisp quality.

Another issue can also arise for users with international models in low signal areas with no 4G LTE access. This problem somehow creates a weird camera glitch that leaves artifacts on the screen display. You’ll need to speak with your service provider to remedy this issue.

Microphone Bugs

You may run into some problems with your phone’s microphone that others have reported. Sometimes the microphone stops working on its own.

Possible Solutions

This first solution is a quick fix, so let’s give it a go. Begin a phone call, either with a friend or by calling your voicemail. When possible, toggle the Speakerphone option on and off. Hopefully, that should recalibrate the microphone and fix any issues.

If this still doesn’t fix the issue, there may be a hardware problem with your phone. Contact Google directly and they can see about issuing a replacement Pixel phone.

Thermoregulation Issues

Smartphones can get incredibly hot, which can lead to some hardware issues.

Rapid-fast charging technology means that your phone can recharge in a fraction of the time, but the process might be a little scary to new users. Worry not though, the heat generated from charging your Google Pixel is completely normal.

However, there are some apps that keep your Google Pixel phone running constantly, which is never a good thing.

Possible Solutions

It’s best to download an app to monitor the temperature of your Google phone. These will monitor your other apps to let you know which ones are using the most battery life and processing power. If possible, you might want to consider removing the top offenders…better safe than sorry!

Also, if you’re in hot climate, consider purchasing a cover for your Google Pixel specifically designed with cooling technology.

Android OS Bugs

If none of these suggestions solve your issue, you may have discovered a new bug all on your own…..how lucky!

You may report a bug to the Android development staff directly for further guidance to your specific issue. The Bug Testing team will continue with any knowledge they’ve already gathered. If it’s brand new, they’ll work with you to collect data on the problems you’re experiencing to find a solution for and include in their next update.

Google Pixel Support

If none of the above fixes are helping to solve your problems, it might be time to seek outside aid. They have the know-how and experience with Google Pixel phones and other smartphone devices.

Factory Data Reset

Before sending your phone off to business or company, you’ll want to perform a standard factory data reset.

This will ensure that no personal information or belongings gets into the wrong hands, like your credit card information or saved photographs.

To start, head into Settings by accessing the notification bar and tapping the gear-shaped icon in the corner. Once there, scroll down to Backup & Reset and then hit Factory Data Reset. The phone will now power down and reboot a few times to wipe the phone clean so it’ll function like brand new again.

Visit the official Google support site if you need further clarification on resetting your phone to factory standards.
