MacBook Screen Repair Costs Explained: What Affects the Final Price?

  • For a MacBook screen repair, expect up to 7% in Virginia sales tax, on top of a price that matches only what you need for parts and labor.
  • Your first step should be to check Apple’s estimate tool, which will give you a good idea of how much a first-party repair will cost so that you can compare it with a local quote.
  • Even if you find a cheaper quote, Fruit Fixed will match it and ensure the work meets high expectations.

How much does it cost to fix a MacBook screen? The answer to this varies by model, required parts, and how long the task takes. However, why does this MacBook screen repair cost still vary depending on where you get the service?

Without AppleCare+, which can often cost you more over time than other options, the methods used to fix a broken laptop screen at a specific location can often significantly affect the cost. It can also depend on the technician’s skill and whether they offer a lifetime warranty or similar benefits.

How Much Does It Cost to Fix a MacBook Screen?

The primary driver of the cost of an Apple MacBook repair is the specific steps required to get your device back to a functional state. These elements include items like its:

  • Model family
  • Year of production
  • Display type
  • Parts needed
  • Damage done

For example, replacing the entire assembly, even if only the lid, is not uncommon. For such a replacement, you will need to pay more than just for the panel, as it can often be a riskier job when done alone due to the underlying electronics and features.

If you go with AppleCare+, they will charge a fixed fee of $99 for screen damage and accidental damage to the display enclosure.

For any other accidental damage, they will require you to pay $299. However, any other damage is not covered by AppleCare+’s MacBook repair services. They will demand that you pay up to almost $2,499 for newer MacBooks with large screens if you want to leave with a working device. Hardly the laptop screen replacement cost you would expect from a user-focused business.

Here at Fruit Fixed, you can often get your screen repaired for as little as $128 on older devices and less than $1,000 for the newest models. For a specific quote, however, you will need to bring your device in so our technicians can assess the full extent of the damage, as there may be additional problems not visible from the outside.

Is It Worth Fixing a Broken Mac Screen?

It is common for people to use their MacBooks for many years, with MacWorld reporting that it is normal to keep the same one for at least eight years. The loss of such an expensive piece of equipment can be a significant shock to a person and their wallet.

Bringing in a high-spec model means you can preserve an expensive electronic item for much longer if you repair it, rather than needing to replace a multi-thousand-dollar piece of technology every time something goes wrong.

At the same time, you may have hundreds, if not thousands, of photos and other sentimental files on the device. If that’s the case, fixing it avoids the risks of migrating your data without being able to access the MacBook itself because of the broken screen. You can then continue using it, potentially backing up your files a little more often when you do.

Parts and Labor Cost Breakdown

The costs of labor and parts will heavily depend on the specific device. It includes the price of the:

  • Device frame or assembly
  • Hinges
  • Brackets
  • Adhesives
  • Electronics

Labor costs include:

  • Dissassembly
  • Testing of parts
  • Sourcing new parts
  • Reassembly
  • Calibration
  • Post-repair testing

Calibration ensures the colors you see on the device match the colors you expect. It includes checking that the screen works precisely as it should after replacement, checking that the white balance functions correctly, and other steps. What you see should be exactly what Apple expects you to see.

Be aware that if there is any additional damage, such as a dented lid or a bent hinge, or if a technician spots sure signs of water damage, then the repair cost is likely to increase significantly. There are methods for detecting unambiguous water damage that our technicians can demonstrate to you, as it can sometimes occur while the owner was not in possession of the device.

Apple MacBook Repair FAQ

What is the Average Lifespan of a MacBook after Screen Repair?

There is no single “average” lifespan that you can expect from a repaired device. It will depend heavily on various factors, including the model’s age when we repaired it and how you use it afterward. If the MacBook is old enough that it no longer receives OS or security updates, that may shorten its lifespan as well.

It is also important to remember that the screen may not be the only part to degrade. Battery health is one of the most common factors limiting device lifespan.

While a strong battery can often sustain years of use post-repair, it depends on how many charge cycles the MacBook undergoes and whether you decide to use it in extreme conditions. Some examples we have seen in the past include devices used in extreme heat and cold while on vacation, which degrade faster.

What Are the Risks of Using a MacBook With a Cracked Screen?

Apple’s safety guidelines explicitly tell users not to use a Mac notebook if they notice damage, including a cracked screen, “as it may cause injury“. Shards or splinters from your screen could cause serious harm if the screen cracks further or even shatters.

While they may seem harmless at first, cracks can start to spread under pressure from anything on the lid or if you place the device in a backpack that then flexes for any reason. Over time, this can turn a minor crack into a complete display failure, or even into other damage that requires a higher-tiered repair.

What Should I Do Before Giving a MacBook for Repair?

If you can still use the screen, carefully back up your device using Time Machine or another backup program to avoid data loss. Doing this occasionally is often a good idea, regardless of your device access, since accidents can happen at any time.

You should then turn off “Find My Mac” and remove any activation lock, as these prevent our technicians from performing essential repairs. You may also need to disable a firmware password, if any, such as on an Intel Mac, before diagnostics run.

We will also not take in your accessories or covers. As such, remove any keyboard rest or cover, as they can damage the display. You may bring the device into our shop with its protective cover, but you will need to take it with you afterward.

Are MacBook Screens Fragile?

Not especially. However, Apple makes several design decisions to reduce the device’s form factor (size), including offering very little space between the screen and the keyboard.

As such, one of the common forms of damage we see is simply people closing the device with something in the way, causing a crack to the thin Retina display.

iPad Screen Repair: Why Professional Service Ensures the Best Results

Did you hand your iPad to a friend to show off a photo, only to notice a spiderweb of cracks across the screen? That moment of dread hits hard. Your trusty device suddenly feels like it’s on its last leg.

Before you start shopping for a pricey new tablet, consider this: iPad screen repair can bring your device back to life for a fraction of the cost. With professional screen repair, skilled technicians use top-quality parts to make your iPad look and work like new.

Why settle for a quick fix or a risky DIY attempt when experts can deliver lasting results? Let’s explore how to make your screen troubles a thing of the past!

The True Cost of a Cracked iPad Screen

A cracked iPad screen might seem like a minor annoyance at first; maybe it’s just a few lines in the corner. But ignoring those cracks can turn a small problem into a big headache.

When the screen breaks, your iPad becomes vulnerable. Touch sensitivity might fail, making it hard to swipe or tap. Worse, tiny glass shards can sneak inside, damaging internal parts like the battery or motherboard.

Suddenly, a simple iPad screen replacement could escalate into a costly repair for multiple components.

Leaving a cracked screen untouched also risks data loss. If the damage spreads, your photos or work files might become inaccessible. Plus, a broken screen invites dirt and moisture, which can corrode circuits over time.

Proper iPad maintenance means addressing issues early to avoid these hidden costs.

Opting for a professional iPad screen replacement saves money in the long run. Skilled technicians fix the screen correctly the first time, using quality parts to prevent further damage.

Delaying or choosing a cheap fix often leads to bigger bills later. A quick, expert repair keeps your iPad running smoothly and protects your wallet.

DIY Repairs: Why They Often Fall Short

Did you watch an online tutorial and thought, “I can fix my iPad screen myself”? The idea of saving a few bucks with a DIY kit is tempting. Cheap parts are easy to find online, and those videos make it look simple.

DIY iPad repair services often lead to more trouble than they’re worth. One wrong move, like using a flimsy screwdriver or low-quality adhesive, can damage delicate components, such as the display cables or battery.

Low-cost parts are another trap. They might crack again in weeks or cause touch issues, undoing your hard work. Without specialized tools, aligning the new screen perfectly is nearly impossible.

The screen repair benefits of professional iPad repair services stand out here. Experts use high-grade parts and precision equipment to ensure a flawless fix. DIY attempts also lack warranties, so if something goes wrong, you’re stuck footing the bill.

Saving money upfront sounds great, but DIY repairs often cost more in fixes later. Trusting professionals means your iPad gets the care it deserves, the first time.

What Sets Professional iPad Screen Repair Apart

After a cracked screen, choosing the right fix makes all the difference. So, what makes professional screen repair stand out from the rest?

Expertise

Trained technicians know iPads inside and out, handling everything from shattered glass to finicky touch sensors with precision. Unlike DIY attempts, iPad screen repair by professionals uses specialized tools, like suction cups and heat pads, to remove damaged screens without harming delicate cables or clips.

Quality

Professionals use high-grade parts that match your iPad’s original specs, ensuring vibrant colors and smooth touch response. They also apply secure adhesives to keep the screen in place for years.

Have you tried a cheap fix only to see the screen pop loose? That’s not a worry with professional screen repair. Plus, most shops offer warranties, so if something isn’t right, they’ll fix it at no extra cost.

Beyond the repair itself, pros bring peace of mind. They test your iPad before handing it back, checking:

  • Buttons
  • Cameras
  • Software

With iPad screen repair done right, you get a device that looks and feels as good as new.

The Role of Quality Parts in Long-Lasting Repairs

Why do some iPad screen repairs last years while others fail in weeks? The secret lies in the parts used. Professional repair shops prioritize high-quality components, often called OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts, which match your iPad’s original screen specs.

These parts ensure:

  • Crisp visuals
  • Responsive touch
  • Durability

They are key screen repair benefits that keep your device feeling like new. Cheap, knockoff parts, on the other hand, might look okay at first but often lead to problems like dim displays or glitchy touchscreens.

Quality parts also support iPad maintenance by preventing future issues. OEM screens fit perfectly, reducing gaps where dust or moisture could sneak in and harm internal circuits. They’re paired with strong adhesives to keep everything secure, so your screen won’t lift or crack easily.

Professionals source these reliable components from trusted suppliers, ensuring every repair stands the test of time. Choosing quality parts means fewer headaches and more savings over time. You get a repair that lasts, protecting your iPad’s performance and value.

How Professional Repairs Protect Your iPad’s Value

If you are thinking of trading in or selling your iPad, a cracked screen can slash its value, making buyers or trade-in programs offer far less. A scratched, broken display signals neglect and drops your iPad’s worth by hundreds of dollars.

But professional iPad repair services can change that. By opting for expert iPad screen replacement, you restore your device to near-original condition to boost its appeal and market price.

Expert iPad repair services go beyond fixing the screen. Technicians ensure the new display matches your iPad’s original specs. They also check for hidden issues, like loose connectors, that could lower value if left unaddressed.

Unlike cheap fixes that leave uneven edges or faded colors, professional iPad screen replacement uses top-grade parts to make your device look pristine.

Regular upkeep, like timely screen repairs, keeps your iPad ready for resale or gifting. It’s a smart investment that saves money compared to buying new.

The Time Factor: Why Speed and Efficiency Matter

Nobody likes being without their iPad. A cracked screen can disrupt your routine, but professional screen repair gets you back on track fast. Expert technicians can complete an iPad screen repair in under an hour, often while you wait with a coffee nearby.

Compare that to DIY fixes, which can take hours of trial and error, or mailing your device to a distant repair center, which leaves you iPad-less for days. Mail-in services also risk shipping damage or delays.

Professional iPad screen repair shops prioritize efficiency, using specialized tools to swap screens quickly without cutting corners. They streamline the process so you don’t waste time.

Speed protects your iPad’s longevity. Quick repairs prevent cracks from worsening or letting dust sneak inside. For students cramming for exams or professionals meeting deadlines, fast professional screen repair is a lifesaver.

Beyond the Screen: Comprehensive iPad Care

When you hand your iPad over for a screen repair, professionals do more than just swap glass. Top-notch iPad repair services treat your device like a full check-up at the doctor. Technicians inspect:

  • Buttons
  • Speakers
  • Batteries

These experts also handle iPad maintenance tasks, like cleaning ports to remove dust or updating software for smoother performance. Such care prevents slowdowns and extends your device’s life to save you from costly replacements.

Professionals use their know-how to spot problems you might miss, like a loose connector that could cause glitches later.

Choosing the Right Repair Service for Your iPad

Finding a trustworthy shop for iPad screen repair can feel overwhelming, but a few smart steps make it easy.

Start by checking for certifications. Technicians trained by recognized programs know their stuff.

Next, read online reviews from real customers to gauge reliability. Look for comments about screen repair benefits, like lasting fixes or friendly staff.

Ask about the parts used. Quality shops use high-grade screens that match your iPad’s original specs, ensuring durability and performance.

Reputable services explain costs upfront, with no hidden fees. Inquire about warranties; a good shop stands behind its iPad screen repair with a guarantee, so you’re covered if issues arise.

Local expertise adds value. Shops rooted in the community often prioritize trust and repeat customers, offering personalized care. Before committing, call and ask questions.

How long will the repair take? Do they test the device afterward? These answers reveal their professionalism.

How Much to Fix an iPad Screen? Repair Price Breakdown by Model

You’re swiping through your iPad, maybe watching a show or helping the kids with homework, when: Oops! It slips and hits the floor. The screen cracks, and your first thought is, “How much to fix an iPad screen?”

We’ve all been there, and that sinking feeling is real. A broken iPad doesn’t have to mean a huge expense or a new device, though. With the right information, you can get your iPad back to perfect without breaking the bank.

Keep reading for everything you need to get your iPad screen fixed affordably.

Why iPad Screen Repairs Vary by Model

Each iPad, from the sleek iPad Pro to the compact iPad Mini, has unique features that affect the iPad screen repair cost. As repair experts, we see this every day, and we’re here to explain what makes iPad repair by model so different.

Screen Size and Complexity

A standard iPad with a 10.2-inch screen uses different parts than an iPad Pro’s massive 12.9-inch display, and bigger screens often mean pricier parts.

Then there’s the tech inside. Newer models, like the iPad Air, have laminated screens where the glass and display are glued together. These are trickier to fix than older, non-laminated screens, driving up costs.

Fancy features like ProMotion or Retina displays in high-end models also require specialized, expensive components.

Part Availability and Labor

Older models, like the iPad 4, might have cheaper parts because they’re more common, but finding quality ones can be tough. Meanwhile, newer models need pricier, cutting-edge parts

Labor is another factor. Some models demand more time and skill to repair properly as the complexity of the screens increases.

To get the best repair quote, check your iPad model first. Look in Settings under “About” to find the model name or number. Knowing this helps us give you an accurate iPad screen repair cost upfront.

Tip: Older models can be budget-friendly to fix, but only if the technician uses quality parts and has the skills to match. That’s how you get a repair that lasts.

Cost Breakdown: How Much to Fix iPad Screen by Popular Models

The cost depends on your iPad model, and we’re here to lay it out plainly. As repair experts, we know the iPad screen replacement price varies because each model has its own parts and repair challenges

Cost Breakdown per iPad

Here are estimated repair costs for common iPad models, based on typical prices for professional labor and high-quality parts:

  • iPad (9th/10th Gen, 10.2″ or 10.9″): $100-$150
  • iPad Mini (6th Gen, 8.3″): $120-$180
  • iPad Air (5th Gen, 10.9″): $150-$220
  • iPad Pro (11″ or 12.9″): $200-$350

These ranges reflect the iPad screen replacement price for different models.

The Type of Damage

A cracked glass layer is cheaper to fix than a broken LCD or digitizer, which controls touch. We recommend OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts for durability, though they cost a bit more than aftermarket options.

Older models, like an iPad 4 or 5, might run $80-$120, but quality parts are harder to source, so choose wisely.

To get a spot-on quote, share your model number with your repair shop. A solid repair with good parts keeps your iPad running smoothly for years and saves you from buying a new one.

What Else Affects Your iPad Screen Repair Bill?

You know your iPad model, but the iPad screen repair cost can still surprise you. Beyond the device itself, other factors shape what you’ll pay.

Here’s what else impacts your repair bill.

Choice of Repair Shop

Where you get your iPad fixed makes a big difference. Big-city shops often charge more because of higher rent and overhead. Smaller, local shops might offer lower prices but still deliver top-notch work.

Location

Prices in busy areas like Richmond could be higher than in quieter towns. We suggest checking a few nearby shops for quotes to find the best deal.

Time of Year

Repair shops sometimes raise prices during peak seasons, like back-to-school or holidays, when demand spikes. Off-season repairs, like in early spring, might cost less. Ask about seasonal deals to save a bit.

Shop’s Reputation

Well-reviewed places with certified technicians might charge a little more, but their work lasts longer. Shady shops offering dirt-cheap fixes often cut corners that lead to bigger bills later.

Repair Timeline

Need your iPad fixed today? Rush services add a premium. If you can wait a day or two, standard rates are usually lower.

Also, check if the shop includes extras like a warranty on repairs. A short warranty (30-90 days) is common, but some places skip it, which can hurt if something goes wrong.

Call around and ask for a breakdown of costs, including:

  • Labor
  • Parts
  • Any add-ons

A trustworthy shop will explain everything clearly. Don’t fall for super-low prices. They often hide bad parts or sloppy work.

Common iPad Screen Issues and Their Repair Costs

A broken iPad screen can show up in different ways, and each issue affects the iPad screen replacement price. Knowing what’s wrong helps you pick the best iPad repair options and avoid paying for fixes you don’t need.

Here’s a rundown of common screen problems and what they typically cost to repair.

Cracked Glass

A cracked glass screen is the most common issue. If the display still works, repairs usually cost $80-$150, depending on the iPad model.

If the crack spreads or the touch stops working, you might need a new digitizer, which handles touch input. This bumps the price to $120-$200.

LCD

Another issue is a damaged LCD, where you see:

  • Black spots
  • Weird colors
  • No image at all

LCD repairs are pricier, ranging from $150-$300, because the display itself needs replacing.

Connection Failures

Sometimes, the screen flickers or shows dead pixels, tiny dots that don’t light up. These could point to a loose connection or a failing display, costing $100-$250 to fix, depending on the damage.

Water Damage

Water damage can also mess up the screen, causing streaks or unresponsiveness. Repairs here vary widely, from $100 to $350, since drying and part replacement depend on how bad it is.

Get a professional to check your iPad before committing to a repair. A good shop will diagnose the exact issue and give you a clear quote. Don’t wait too long; small cracks can worsen, jacking up the iPad screen replacement price.

How to Choose the Best iPad Repair Service

With a cracked iPad screen, finding the best iPad repair options can feel overwhelming. Not all repair shops are equal, and picking the right one saves you money and stress

Here’s what to look for.

Start With Certifications

A good shop has trained technicians who know your iPad model inside out, whether it’s a Mini or a Pro. They will gladly show you the certifications required to work on Apple products.

Check Part Quality

Ask if they use OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts, which last longer than cheap alternatives. That is also important to maintain your Apple Warranty.

Transparency

Reputable shops provide clear quotes upfront, breaking down parts and labor costs. Look for customer reviews online to see if others had good experiences.

A Strong Warranty

Top shops offer at least 30-90 days on repairs, so you’re covered if something goes wrong. This warranty is separate from your device warranty.

Compare Prices

A great shop offers fair pricing and stands behind its work. For example, we guarantee to match and beat any local competitor’s published price by $5, ensuring you get quality repairs at the best value. This kind of policy shows that a shop puts customers first.

  • Call a few places
  • Ask about their process
  • And trust your gut

A shop that answers questions clearly and treats you right is likely to fix your iPad properly.

Saving Money on iPad Screen Repairs: Smart Strategies

Worried about how much to fix the iPad screen? You can keep costs down with a few clever moves.

A sturdy case and screen protector, costing $10-$30, can stop cracks before they happen. It’s a small price compared to a $100-$300 repair.

Keep it away from edges, like tables or car seats, where it’s likely to fall. Teaching kids to use it on a soft surface, like a couch, cuts down on accidents, too.

Another way to save is by checking your insurance. If you have homeowners’ or renters’ insurance, some plans cover device repairs. Call your provider to see if a cracked screen qualifies.

If your iPad is under AppleCare, repairs could cost as little as $49, so check your coverage status in Settings.

Apple Watch Screen Repair: Restoring Your Device to Like-New Condition

Has your Apple Watch screen taken a hit? Maybe it got scratched during a workout or cracked after a slip off the wrist. A damaged screen can make checking notifications, tracking steps, or even swiping through apps a hassle.

Worse, it dulls the sleek look of your device. Thankfully, Apple Watch screen repair can bring your watch back to life, looking and working like new. Acting fast is key to avoid deeper damage that could cost more to fix or force you to replace the watch entirely.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through what you need to know about Apple Watch screen replacement and glass repair. Let’s explore how to make it happen!

What’s Wrong with Your Apple Watch Screen? A Closer Look

A cracked or scratched Apple Watch screen is a big setback, but understanding the damage helps you make smart repair choices. The screen has three main parts:

  • The outer glass
  • The digitizer that senses your touch
  • The OLED display that shows colors and images

Damage might be a simple scratch on the glass, a cracked Apple Watch screen that affects touch, or a deeper issue where the display shows black spots or won’t light up. Each type needs a specific fix, and repairing Apple Watch glass isn’t like fixing a phone because the watch’s tiny size demands extra precision.

You Can Check the Damage Yourself

Tap the screen. Does it respond smoothly? Look for odd colors or dead pixels.

If the glass is shattered, don’t wait to fix a cracked Apple Watch screen. Delaying can let dust or water sneak inside and harm the watch’s circuits or reduce its water resistance.

Our team has seen watches go from minor scratches to major issues just because owners ignored early damage. Knowing what’s broken helps you talk to repair experts confidently and avoid bigger problems down the road.

How Experts Restore Your Apple Watch: The Repair Process

What happens when you hand your Apple Watch to a pro for repair? The process is precise, like performing surgery on your device.

At a trusted Apple Watch service center, technicians follow clear steps to ensure your watch comes back like new. First, they diagnose the issue, testing the screen for touch response and display problems. Then, using specialized tools like micro-screwdrivers and suction cups, they carefully open the watch to avoid harming its delicate insides.

Next comes the Apple Watch screen replacement. The damaged screen is removed, and a high-quality replacement, matching Apple’s standards, is installed. This isn’t a quick glue job; technicians align the new screen perfectly to restore water resistance and touch accuracy.

After reassembly, they test everything: swipes, taps, notifications, and even fitness tracking. Our team has handled thousands of repairs, and we know one loose connection can cause issues, so double-checking is a must.

Some might worry that repairs void Apple’s warranty. However, professional repairs at a reputable Apple Watch service center don’t affect your warranty if done correctly, per Apple’s guidelines.

The key is choosing skilled technicians who use proper parts. By the end, your watch should look and work as if that crack never happened.

DIY vs. Professional Repair: Why Trust the Pros

A cracked Apple Watch screen might tempt you to try a DIY fix, especially with online tutorials promising quick results. However, before you get started, repairing an Apple Watch isn’t like swapping a phone case.

DIY attempts often lead to trouble. To fix a cracked Apple Watch screen, you need:

  • Steady hands
  • Specialized tools
  • Know-how to avoid damaging the watch’s sealed design

Professional Apple Watch repair service offers big advantages. Certified technicians use genuine or high-quality parts that match Apple’s specs, ensuring your watch works perfectly. They also provide warranties, so if something goes wrong post-repair, you’re covered.

DIY kits, on the other hand, often include cheap parts that fail quickly or don’t fit right, leaving you frustrated. Plus, pros save you money in the long run. Repairing your watch costs far less than buying a new one, which can set you back hundreds of dollars.

Choosing the Right Apple Watch Repair Service: What to Look For

Not all repair shops are equal, so picking the right Apple Watch repair service is crucial to getting your device back in top shape.

Check for Certified Technicians

Professionals have the training to handle delicate repairs like Apple Watch screen repair. Ask if they use high-quality parts that meet Apple’s standards. Cheap parts can cause touch issues or fade fast.

A reputable Apple Watch service center will be upfront about their process and offer a warranty, usually 90 days or more, to cover any post-repair hiccups.

Transparency Matters Too

A good shop provides clear pricing and repair timelines upfront, so you’re not hit with surprises. For example, most Apple Watch screen repairs take a few hours to a day, depending on the damage.

Be wary of places offering dirt-cheap fixes. They might cut corners or use low-grade parts.

Reading online reviews can reveal a lot about a shop’s reliability. Look for comments about:

  • Fast service
  • Friendly staff
  • Successful repairs

Our team always encourages customers to ask questions, like “How long will it take?” or “What’s covered by the warranty?” A trustworthy Apple Watch service center welcomes these questions and explains things clearly

Choosing wisely ensures your watch gets the care it deserves.

What Happens After Your Apple Watch Screen Repair?

Once your Apple Watch is repaired, you might wonder, “What’s next?” A top-notch Apple Watch service center doesn’t just hand your device back. They ensure it’s ready for action. \

After an Apple Watch screen replacement, technicians test everything:

  • Touch response
  • Display clarity
  • Button clicks
  • Features like heart rate tracking

They check the watch’s water resistance, a big concern since a new screen must seal properly to keep water out. Our team has seen customers worry about this, so we make sure every repair meets strict standards.

You’ll likely get a warranty, often 30-90 days, covering the repaired parts. If the screen acts up within that time, the shop should fix it at no extra cost.

You’ll also receive care tips, like avoiding rough surfaces to protect the new screen. To verify the repair quality yourself, try:

  • Swiping through apps
  • Checking notifications
  • Inspecting the screen’s edges for tight alignment

If anything feels off, contact the repair shop right away. Good providers stand by their work.

You might wonder if your data is safe. Professional repairs typically don’t erase your settings or apps, but backing up your watch before repair is a smart move. A reliable Apple Watch service center will guide you through this.

Protecting Your Apple Watch: Tips to Avoid Future Damage

Nobody wants to deal with repairing Apple Watch glass more than once, so protecting your watch is a smart move. A screen protector is your first line of defense. Choose a tempered glass or film protector designed for your Apple Watch model for the best fit.

A sturdy band, like silicone or metal, can also absorb shocks if you drop your watch during a jog or busy day.

Avoid tossing it into bags with keys or coins, which can scratch the screen. When you’re not wearing it, store it in a soft case or on a charging stand.

Regular cleaning keeps it in top shape. Use a microfiber cloth to wipe away dirt or sweat that might wear down the glass over time.

How to Change iPad Screen

Does your Apple iPad have a cracked screen? If so, you might be able to continue to use it as-is for the time being.

But eventually, you’ll need to have your iPad screen replaced to use your tablet to its full potential. A broken iPad screen will make it very difficult for you to see what’s going on when you’re using your tablet.

Wondering how to change an iPad screen so that you can start using your tablet like normal again? There are actually several different ways in which you can repair an iPad screen.

We’ve put together a guide that breaks down several of the options you’ll have when you want to repair the cracked screen on your iPad. Check them out below so that you’re able to get your iPad screen back to the way it used to be.

Ask Apple to Fix It

When you first purchased your iPad, did you invest in a 2-year AppleCare Plus warranty to go along with it? If you did, you should be able to use it to get your iPad screen fixed for just under $50. It would be worth taking advantage of the warranty that you paid for to fix your iPad screen.

To do it, all you’ll need to do is bring your iPad to any Apple location or arrange to send your iPad in to Apple to have the screen repaired. It should be a very simple process that’ll leave you with a brand-new iPad screen in the end.

If, however, you didn’t invest in an AppleCare Plus warranty for your iPad, it’ll be a much different story. In this case, Apple is often going to charge you almost what it would cost to buy a new iPad just to fix your screen. It’s why you should skip this option if your iPad isn’t covered by a warranty.

Take It to an iPad Repair Shop

If you don’t happen to have an AppleCare Plus warranty for your iPad, it would be wise to figure out how to change an iPad screen without Apple’s help. There are much cheaper ways to get the job done without welcoming Apple into the mix.

There are many iPad repair shops that can provide you with the iPad screen repair services you need. You should look around in your area and attempt to find one that has a reputation for doing great work while repairing iPads.

Fruit Fixed is an excellent example of an iPad repair shop you can rely on to repair an iPad screen for you. You can have your cracked screen fixed fast, and it won’t cost you an arm and a leg to repair it. Fruit Fixed offers a low-price guarantee that’ll get you the best possible deal on repair services.

Try Repairing It Yourself

If you enjoy tinkering with electronics and know what you’re doing, it might not be the worst idea in the world to try repairing your iPad screen on your own. There are do-it-yourself iPad screen repair kits that you can buy right online. One of them might help put you in a position where you’ll be able to repair your iPad screen for next to nothing simply by spending some time working on it.

But be warned: Taking the DIY approach to repairing the cracked screen on an iPad is not going to be easy if you don’t know what you’re doing. You might actually end up doing more harm than good when you decide to work on fixing your iPad screen yourself.

Unless you have complete confidence in your abilities and understand how to change an iPad screen, you should probably leave repairs like this up to the professionals.

Replace It

Generally speaking, repairing a cracked iPad screen is typically going to cost somewhere between $100 and $200 depending on which iPad repair shop you bring it to. Is that more than your iPad is worth at the present moment?

If you have a brand-new iPad, it’s likely going to be worth well over $100 and even $200. But if you have an iPad that’s on the older side, it might not be worth anywhere close to $100 or $200 anymore.

In this instance, you may want to think about replacing your iPad entirely rather than paying to replace the screen. It’ll be the better financial decision for those with older iPads.

Keep On Using It As-Is

Do you know that you’re going to be getting a new iPad within the next few months? If you are, then you might be able to get away with continuing to use your iPad in spite of its cracked screen.

As long as the screen isn’t literally falling apart and hurting your fingers when you use it, you may be able to squeeze a little more life out of it until you’re ready to buy your new iPad. It might be an option worth considering since it won’t make sense to repair a cracked iPad screen when you’ll be replacing it soon anyway.

Let Us Figure Out How to Change an iPad Screen for You

Is your iPad screen broken and difficult to use because of the cracks in it? Fruit Fixed is here to help with all your iPad repair needs.

We can remove your old broken screen from your iPad and put a new one in its place. This will be a much better option than you trying to figure out how to change an iPad screen on your own. It’ll also be a more affordable option than sending your iPad to Apple to have it fixed.

5 Qualities to Look for in an iPhone Screen Repair Service

In a 2020 report, it was understood that around 87 million Americans had damaged their phones in the previous year.

Since various iPhone models make up a good portion of the top-selling smartphones every year, broken iPhone screens are likely among the most common repair jobs. If you’ve dropped your iPhone and cracked the screen, you’re certainly not the only one.

Because of how common this problem is, there’s an iPhone screen repair service on every block. With so many options out there, you’ve got to do your due diligence to choose a company that will do right by your broken phone.

In this post, we’re going to tell you what qualities you should look for an in iPhone screen repair company. Repairing an iPhone screen takes a lot of skill and technical know-how, so keep reading and we’ll ensure that you have a professional that you can trust at the helm.

1. Expertise and Experience

When you’re looking for someone to repair a phone, no matter what brand or model it is, they should have a certain level of expertise. You wouldn’t give your iPhone to any random person on the street and have them replace the screen. You shouldn’t just trust a repair service without checking their credentials.

There aren’t many certifications for becoming an iPhone repair technician, which can make it tricky to find the right company. Your best bet is to look at the experience and longevity of a company when doing your initial research.

A good company will have plenty of technicians on site and many years of experience with iPhones. If they can’t prove that they’ve replaced iPhone screens thousands of times before, then you have to keep looking.

At Fruit Fixed, we’ve been helping Virginians with their smashed and non-functional iPhone screens for over 10 years. During that time, our business has grown to over 6 locations and dozens of talented employees. We’re trustworthy because we’ve got the experience and expertise to do the job the right way.

2. A Good Reputation

While researching a company and learning about their experience is important, it’s not the whole story. You can’t just take a company’s word for it that they’re the best iPhone screen repair company around. Most services are going to make this claim.

The next step is to investigate what their former customers are saying about them. Tech repair services live and die by their reputation and word of mouth, grassroots-type growth. If you don’t have a good reputation, your company will eventually fizzle out.

So, as a new customer, you can look after your own interests by checking out online ratings and reviews. Choose your favorite listing sites (Google, Yelp, etc.) and see what former customers are saying about their phone repairs.

Make a special point to look for customers that have also had their screens replaced. If there are overwhelmingly positive reviews and you can see that a company has successfully repaired iPhone screens for other people, it’s a good sign.

3. Fast Turnaround

Once you’ve chosen a few of the top companies with the best experience and reputations, you can start reaching out. There are a few things you’ll need to find out when you contact them about your cracked iPhone screen.

One of the most important is how long the repairs are going to take. We live in a world where we’re never without our smartphones for more than an hour or two while they’re charging. Some people’s phones never leave their side.

When small-scale repair services get busy, they tend to fall behind, which hurts the customer. You need a service that can diagnose the problem right away and determine a repair vs. replace iPhone screen course of action.

Whichever it is, they should then have the resources and staff to get the job done within a day or two. If they can’t, keep looking until you find someone that can. The faster the turnaround, the sooner you’ll have your iPhone back as good as new.

4. Fair Pricing and Warranties

The other important thing to inquire about is the cost of repairing an iPhone screen or getting a new iPhone screen, depending on the diagnosis. Having chosen a company that has plenty of experience dealing with these screens, you shouldn’t have a problem getting an accurate quote.

Getting fair pricing is another story. That’s why it’s important to get multiple quotes from different services so that you know you’re getting a good price.

At Fruit Fixed, we understand that iPhone screens don’t break at convenient times, so we offer a low-price guarantee. If you find a repair service cheaper than our quote, we promise to beat them by at least $5.

In addition, it’s important to find a service that offers warranties. If you take your iPhone in to have the screen fixed or replaced, then get it back only to have it malfunction again, you shouldn’t have to pay extra. All of our repairs come with a lifetime warranty, so if you aren’t satisfied, just bring it back and we’ll try again free of charge.

5. High-Quality Replacement Parts

Part of the reason that iPhones are so popular around the world is that Apple uses state-of-the-art parts. Screens have gotten to the point where they’re extremely durable, but they’re not indestructible.

If you’re having your screen replaced, you want something of similar quality going back in. Another important quality of a good iPhone repair shop is that they have high-quality parts stocked and ready to use.

You don’t want to spend money to repair your phone and end up with a lesser device. Fruit Fixed always uses the highest quality parts available so that your phone functions exactly how you need it to once it’s been repaired.

How to Fix the Black Screen of Death on an iPhone

There are 124.7 million iPhone owners in the United States. If you’re among them, you likely rely on your phone for much more than making calls or sending texts. We use our phones to store documents, take pictures, listen to music, shop online, check social media, and so on.

Sometimes, it’s when you’re without a working phone that you realize how much you need it. Unfortunately, if you’ve seen the “black screen of death,” you can’t rely on your phone until you fix it.

So, how do you repair an iPhone’s black screen? Keep reading to find out.

What Is the Black Screen of Death?

As you might imagine from the name, the dreaded black screen of death is a red flag that there are issues with your device serious enough to cause it to stop working.

You’ll know you’re dealing with this severe iPhone malfunction when you pick up your device and the screen remains black and unresponsive.

First, charge the device to ensure it isn’t due to a drained battery. If you know it’s fully charged, but the screen is still black, you’re likely dealing with the black screen of death. You may notice signs that the phone is on, such as vibrations and sounds, but you won’t see anything on the screen.

Thankfully, there are ways to repair these issues.

What Causes the iPhone Black Screen?

There are several causes of the black screen of death.

It’s a common problem that can occur when you drop your device on its screen. Accidents like these cause hardware issues, damaging the internal components and leaving your display black.

Dropping a phone in water may also cause the black screen if it’s submerged long enough. Newer iPhone models are water-resistant up to a certain depth and time limit. However, no phone is completely waterproof.

If you drop your device and notice cracks along the screen, you’ll need to repair it

Sometimes users report the black screen of death after charging the device overnight. If the issue isn’t due to a hardware problem, it may be a software glitch.

In some instances, downloading the wrong iOS update or an incomplete update can result in an unresponsive screen.

Fixing the Black Screen of Death

If you did some troubleshooting and you’re sure the problem isn’t due to a drained battery, it’s time to try some basic iPhone repair techniques.

Here are the next steps to take.

Try a Forced Restart

Although it’s frequently used as a joke, the common tech advice of turning the device off and on again is incredibly useful.

A force restart reboots the device, including the apps and software. It forces a power cycle and clears the phone’s short-term memory.

Sometimes, this is all you need to do to clear all the open applications and get your device back in working order. If the problem is caused by a rogue app, this solution may clear the malfunction and give you control again.

These are the steps to take for iPhone 8 and newer models:

  1. Quickly press and release the volume up button
  2. Quickly press and release the volume down button
  3. Press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo
  4. Release the side button

Restore to Factory Settings in iTunes

If the above solution doesn’t work, you may have to restore your phone to its factory settings. The downside to this method is that you’ll lose all data.

We strongly recommend keeping up with iPhone cloud backups in case you run into an issue like this. You can back up your iPhone even if it says “not enough iCloud storage” with these tips

If you need to reset your device, connect your phone to your computer using Wi-Fi or a USB cable. Open the iTunes app on your computer and click on the device button near the top left of the window.

Select “Summary” and then “Restore.” You’ll see some on-screen instructions to follow.

Pro Tip: Always click the eject button before disconnecting your device from the computer.

iTunes can fix the black screen of death, but this route will erase your phone’s data. If you have an iCloud backup, you can restore your phone to a previous version.

Contact an iPhone Repair Company

If the above solutions didn’t work, the issue is mostly likely hardware-related. Your phone is full of delicate components that can malfunction for various reasons. Drops and accidents are two of the most common causes, but sometimes we’re not sure why a phone breaks.

Leave the hardware repairs to the professionals. Attempting to fix an iPhone yourself can result in damaging the device further or breaking it entirely. You often need special tools to open and repair an iPhone.

You have two options at this point. You can take your phone to an Apple Store or go with a third-party repair service.

If your device is still covered under warranty, you need to read the details of your agreement. Getting a phone fixed through a third party may void your warranty.

However, if your phone isn’t covered anymore, going to a third-party repair service is an excellent way to save you money. Here at Fruit Fixed, we have a low-price guarantee

iPhone Damage? Take It to Fruit Fixed

Why Is My iPad Touch Screen Not Working?

Did you know that, as of February 2023, there were over 2 billion active Apple devices worldwide? Of these products, most are iPhones, with over a billion units currently in use.

But iPads are also among Apple’s top sellers, earning the company billions in profits. In the 3rd quarter of 2022 alone, they generated an estimated $7.22 billion in revenue.

Still, as fancy, easy to use, and feature-rich as the iPad is, it’s not impervious to problems. One of its most common issues is its touch screen not working as it should.

The good news is that a malfunctioning iPad screen doesn’t always signal a broken device. But to determine this, you must first perform several troubleshooting steps.

This guide discusses the causes and fixes for a misbehaving or non-working iPad screen, so read on.

Moisture on Screen

An iPad features a capacitive screen with a constant electrical field. This field reacts when something that conducts electricity touches it. A perfect example of an electrical conductor is your body, such as your fingertips.

Your fingertips alter your iPad screen’s electrical field. The screen then detects the change in that spot you touched.

The problem is that most sources of water contain elements that conduct electricity. These include sodium, magnesium, and calcium ions in tap water, raindrops, and seawater. These ions allow electricity to flow through the water.

Thus, drops or smears of those water types on your iPad screen can interfere with its touch functions. For example, they can confuse the device and make it think you have a finger continuously pressing it. This can make it stop reacting to all other touches, leading to a non-responsive or frozen screen.

So before you panic and think you need a new iPad screen, try wiping it down first. Remove water droplets, smears, and smudges with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.

Holding your iPad screen against the light can help ensure you’ve wiped it thoroughly. If you have, try it to see if it now works.

Dirt Under Screen Protector

Dirt and debris can reduce iPad touchscreen sensitivity or impede its functions. Fortunately, the wiping trick above should also remove these contaminants.

But if dirt and debris are already under the iPad screen protector, that tactic may no longer work. This is also why you must regularly clean your iPad to prevent that and maintain its touch functions. Besides, you want to keep yours clean, as studies say mobile devices can be dirtier than toilets.

If your iPad’s screen protector already has bubbles, it’s a sign that dirt and debris are under it. Remove this protective layer and give the screen a thorough wipe-down. Then, try your screen again to see if it’s now working.

If it is, great; you can install a new protector afterward. If not, proceed to the next steps in this guide.

Software Problems

Malfunctioning software is usually a culprit behind an iPad not responding to touch.

That could be the case with your device if you’ve noticed that it only stops working when you run a specific app. If so, check if the program has an available update, and if yes, download and install it.

If you can’t go back to your main screen, restart your iPad.

To restart an iPad with a physical Home button, press and hold it down with the power button. Release both buttons only when the Apple logo appears.

If your iPad has no Home button, restart it using the Volume buttons. First, press and immediately release the Volume Up, then do the same with the Volume Down. Right after letting go, press and hold the Power button; release it only after the Apple icon appears.

iPadOS Issues

An outdated or buggy iPadOS can sometimes cause its touchscreen to stop working. Updating your device’s operating system may clear the screen issue in this scenario. But be sure to back up your data before you proceed with the OS update installation.

Extreme Temperature

Apple recommends using iPads in ambient temperatures of 32º to 95º Fahrenheit. Any higher or lower than that can cause them to misbehave as they try to regulate their temperature. Such misbehavior can include an erratic or non-responsive touchscreen.

Using your iPad in extreme temperatures can also affect your device’s battery. For instance, continued exposure to scorching temperatures can shorten its battery life.

On the other hand, freezing conditions can discharge your iPad battery faster. They may even force your device to shut down.

So if you’re somewhere too hot or cold, go someplace else where the temperature is more tolerable. Then, try restarting your iPad. This should fix the touchscreen issue if the temperature is behind the problem.

Glitchy Accessories

A malfunctioning cabled accessory plugged into your iPad can cause it to overheat. This includes peripherals connected to your device via a Lightning or USB-C cable. Like high temperatures, they can also lead to your touchscreen not working as it should.

Unplug whatever you have connected to your iPad and try its touchscreen. If it starts working again, the accessory or its cable is likely to blame.

Broken Screen

If none of the iPad troubleshooting steps above work, you may already have a busted screen. In this case, you may already need iPad repairs or a replacement screen.

The above is likely if you dropped your iPad and it cracked. While not all cracks are easily visible, that doesn’t mean they’re not there. Even the tiniest ones can grow and worsen over time as you place more pressure on your screen.

To avoid bigger and costlier iPad screen woes, fix those small cracks now. If it’s already out of warranty, take it to a reputable, professional iPad repair company.

Get That Touch Screen Not Working Fixed

Now that you know the culprits behind an iPad touch screen not working, it’s time to address them. Try all our troubleshooting steps, from cleaning it to updating all its software. But if your screen still won’t respond, your best bet is to take your device to a repair expert.

Our team here at Fruit Fixed can diagnose and repair your malfunctioning iPad. So reach out to us now, and we’ll happily bring your device back to life!

The Ultimate Guide to Phone Screen Maintenance: Make Easy Fixes Today

Phones move from the Apple Store into the trash can. Americans toss out more than 150 million phones every year.

Some of these phones are dead. But others just needed minor repairs to keep them going. Before you put your phone in the bin, try to see if you can fix your phone screen.

How can you keep your phone screen from being damaged? What are some phone screen repairs that you can make? When should you go to an electronic repair company to fix your phone?

Answer these questions and you can keep your phone sparkling for years to come. Here is your quick guide.

Prevent Your Phone Screen From Getting Damaged

The less your phone gets damaged, the less electronic maintenance you have to do. Place your phone in a deep pocket so it cannot fall out. You can use a tissue or a soft cloth to pin the phone against the side of your pocket so it won’t fall.

When you need to put your phone down, put it on a tabletop. If it needs to be plugged in, put some slack in your cord so it won’t be yanked off the table if the cord gets moved. Do not place your phone on the floor, as you risk stepping on it or dropping things on it.

You can also place a case around your phone. This will keep your phone from damage if it falls on its corner or side.

Get Phone Screen Cleaning Tools

You should have a few tools on standby so you can clean your phone. A microfiber cloth can pick up grime without scratching your screen.

You should use a bottle of screen cleaner whenever you need to clean. If you can’t find screen cleaner, you can buy disinfecting wipes with Lysol. Make sure you find wipes that are specifically for electronics, as all-purpose wipes may damage your screen.

Avoid Cleaning Mistakes

You should never use household cleaners or soaps to clean your screen. A household cleaner will remove the coating on your display, making your phone less responsive to your touches and commands. Soap can cause the parts of your phone to shrink, which can eventually break your phone.

You may read a smartphone maintenance guide that encourages you to clean with vinegar. You should not follow this advice. Vinegar can tear the display coating off and damage your phone.

Other guides encourage you to use nail paint remover. This can remove your display coating and tear the paint off of your phone.

It is okay to clean your screen with a little water. But you should not place your phone underwater, even in a shallow pool. Under no circumstances should your phone be on while you clean your phone with water.

Do not scrub your screen while applying a lot of pressure. Rub your microfiber cloth using circular motions without pressing into your screen.

Wipe Off Fingerprint Smudges

Your fingers have oil and grime on them. The oil and grime will not damage your phone, but they can make your phone screen hard to see. Whenever you have fingerprint smudges, you should try to remove them.

Turn your phone off and unplug it from a power outlet. Take your microfiber cloth and rub it gently over your phone. You do not need to use spray or water to clean unless you have a lot of smudges.

Remove Sand and Dust

Sand and dust can get caught inside your microphone and charging jack. It can also become trapped inside your phone case.

Take your phone case off and shake it out to remove any sand. You can then use your microfiber cloth to get the sand off the back of your phone.

When you have sand in your earpiece or jack, you can use a small piece of scotch tape to pull it out. Place the scotch tape over the area and then peel it off slowly. Don’t rip it off, or you risk damaging your phone.

Disinfect Your Phone

A 2020 meta-analysis of 56 studies found that 68% of mobile phones contain microorganisms. These microorganisms include E. coli and Staphylococcus bacteria, which can cause staph infections.

You need to disinfect your phone as much as possible. If you use your phone multiple times a day, you should disinfect your phone at least once a day. The longer you go in between disinfecting sessions, the more bacteria can grow on your phone.

You can use disinfectant wipes to clean. Turn your phone off and then wipe all surfaces of your phone with the wipes. Let the disinfectant dry on your phone for 20 minutes so it can kill all the germs.

Fix a Broken Screen

After your screen breaks, you should take a look at your phone under a strong light. You should determine if your screen will fall off or stop working.

If the screen is still functioning, you can use your phone for a short period of time. Follow a DIY guide for phone repairs. Take a look at different screen replacements so you can find the right one for your phone.

But if your screen is not working at all, you should get your phone fixed. Back up your data and then go to a fixing professional.

Master Phone Screen Fixes

Don’t throw your phone out because the phone screen is damaged. Keep your phone off the ground and wrap it in a strong case. Have a microfiber cloth and wipes on standby.

Never use dish soap or alcohol-based cleaners. You can rub smudges off with your cloth, and you can remove dirt with a piece of tape. You can also disinfect your phone with wet wipes.

You can make minor repairs after your screen cracks. But you should go to a repair specialist.

Fruit Fixed offers a team of experienced repair technicians. Find a location near you today.

A Complete Guide to Replacing Your Laptop Screen

Sometimes laptop companies have to issue a full recall on a series due to faulty parts. This can includes issues with the laptop screen, motherboard, or input hardware. Whatever the case, if you’re considering replacing your laptop screen, you might want to check if the brand has issued a recall on your unit.

If not, then you’re a bit stuck. You can either reach out to a professional, or find a way to do it yourself. Luckily, replacing a laptop screen isn’t all that complicated.

It’s usually better to get an expert involved when it comes to electronic repair, but if you really want to replace your laptop screen on your own, consider reading ahead!

Before Getting Started

The first, and most important, step is to take a good look at the damage sustained by your laptop screen. In some cases, laptop repair is possible, and you won’t even need to buy any laptop replacement parts. If your screen is heavily damaged, you may not be so lucky.

Signs you need a full laptop screen replacement:

  • Deep cracks with localized discoloration
  • Water has seeped into or behind the screen
  • Display doesn’t respond to boot or hinge movement

There’s another important factor to consider. You might just have a faulty or damaged graphics card. If your laptop has an HDMI, or similar output, connection then you’re in luck. Find a compatible monitor or television, and try using a cable to connect it to your laptop. If there’s a display showing up, then it’s definitely your laptop screen.

If you feel a bit lost, consider using a device repair guide throughout the process. It might make the endeavor a bit easier!

Tools You’ll Need

So, you’ve confirmed that the problem is your laptop screen. Now it’s time to gather all the equipment you’ll need to replace the screen on your own. There isn’t too much to collect, but there’s one piece that’s absolutely necessary: the new laptop screen.

Finding a Screen Replacement

Finding a laptop screen replacement is usually a simple task. You’ll want to browse for one using your laptop’s brand and model number. This is usually enough to find the exact screen type. If you have an older laptop, you might have to dig a bit deeper.

There are generic laptop screens available for purchase. Before buying one, make sure you compare the specifications and compatibility with your laptop. To ensure you have all the necessary info, you’ll have to remove your screen first. Read ahead to get started.

Laptop Screen Replacement Equipment

If you’ve found a replacement already, then you’re already off to a great start. Now you’ll need just a few more tools to get the job done. First, find a comfortable working space. Most people prefer repairing laptops on a table or similar flat area. You can stand or sit, depending on your personal preference.

Next, and somewhat optionally, consider getting your hands on an anti-static wristband. These make sure that the static produces by your body doesn’t accidentally burn any chipsets.

Go ahead and add magnetic philips screwdrivers to your list. Try getting a few that vary in size. Of course, you’ll be looking for those on the smaller end. Magnetized screwdrivers help avoid minor mishaps when removing screws from your laptop. If your computer has cover stickers, you’ll also need a small needle or safety pin to remove them.

Finally, you’ll want to have a small, dull knife and a few containers for staying organized.

Starting the Replacement Process

Here’s where you prep your laptop for the work to come. These are the necessary steps before removing the laptop screen. This includes removing all power sources and detaching screws and the bezel.

Remove All Power Sources

To be absolutely sure that you’ve removed all power sources, simply unplug the AC cable and adapter, and remove the laptop’s battery. After doing so, you can double check by attempting to turn the laptop on. If it doesn’t power up, you’re ready to continue. Of course, if your laptop doesn’t power up with a power source, that’s an entirely different problem!

Detach Screws and Bezel

If your laptop has cover stickers, carefully pry them off with your needle or safety pin. Then, use your magnetized philips screwdriver to unscrew the screws that were hiding under the cover stickers. Remember to put these in any of the small containers you gathered in previous steps.

Once you’ve removed all the screws from your laptop screen, find a more mobile part of the screen’s bezel. This is where you’ll be using your small, dull knife, or similar object, to pry the bezel off. It’s important to do this carefully, as many laptops need the bezel for installing the new screen.

When removing the bezel, it’s better to make small progress across the entire bezel. Try to avoid pulling one side too hard before making progress on the rest of the bezel. If done properly, you should be able to lift the entire bezel off, exposing the screen underneath.

Removing the LCD

At this point, you should see the screen secured in place by a metal frame. If it’s secured with screws, use your screwdriver to remove them on either side. Now, as carefully as possible, lift the screen away from the frame. This should expose the video cable. Grab it by the plastic case on the end, and tug it to disconnect it. Great job! You’re ready to install the new screen.

Installing the New Screen

Interestingly enough, this is the easiest step! It’s basically a reverse of the removal process. The first thing you’ll want to do is align the new screen to the metal frame, add the screws, and connect the video cable. Lift the fitted screen and place it against the bezel. Carefully snap each section into place; this can take some time.

Once the bezel is fitted properly, take the screws from one of the containers and place them accordingly. Finally, place the cover stickers over the screws.

Finishing the Laptop Screen Replacement

After following these steps, you’re all done! You’ve officially replaced your laptop screen. It takes a bit of time, and a varying amount of effort, but it’s absolutely possible. Of course, you might run into trouble on one or two of the steps. Try not to fret, though. You can always contact a pro for assistance or, if necessary, an extra hand in the process.

Reach out if you need some help replacing your laptop’s screen. We can guide you through the process and, if that’s not enough, we fix it all! We’ll find a solution for you, one way or another.
